Love abides

Happy Valentine's Day when love is all around.

Since Christmas, I've spent some time thinking about "love." Love for family, each other and love of community. One thing we humans get wrong about love is that it never goes away. That high school boyfriend? The love remains in the heart. Ex-spouse? Yes, the love remains. Your grandparents long passed? Yes. That love remains too -- covering and protecting your every move like the Mother's spell on Harry Potter.

What changes is our capacity to feel love more deeply than we could at 8 or 18 or 48. Our hearts get bigger with each heart break and that means we can handle a bigger love. Every amount of love you have experienced is still with you, pushing you to be more loving, more accepting...not less.

So while the song may say, "I'll never love again," that is not how we are wired. We are wired for more and more love. Face today knowing you are loved, you are loving and there is even more love coming. Love abides. Namaste.
